How to look after your NFC card
A few simple habits help protect the surface, printed details, and everyday usability.
Follow the instructions for your finish
A wood surface, printed coating, and laminate can need different care. Start with the instructions supplied with your particular product. Do not assume that a durable-looking finish is waterproof, scratch-proof, or safe to clean with solvents.
Keep cleaning gentle
For routine dust and fingerprints, begin with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive pads and scraping at the printed details. If a mark remains, ask the supplier which cleaning method is suitable rather than experimenting with alcohol, heat, or soaking.
Store it without bending or abrasion
Use a dedicated slot or sleeve when practical. Keep keys and sharp objects away from the surface and avoid repeatedly flexing the card. Do not punch holes through a finished NFC card: the internal antenna is not necessarily visible from the outside.
Check the experience as well as the surface
Occasionally test the NFC destination and QR code, especially before an event. A pristine card can still point to an outdated profile. If the card stops reading after physical damage, use the QR or a direct link while you ask support about the next step.
- Clean gently and follow product guidance.
- Avoid bending, drilling, and harsh chemicals.
- Protect the QR area from scratches.
- Keep the linked profile up to date.
